Your guide

Meet James Carter.

You don't need another facilitator with a binder. You need someone who has sat where your hardest calls get made — and knows how to get a team to the other side of them. For 25 years, that's been James's work.

In the room for the decisions that matter.

James has spent his career not as an outside observer of leadership, but inside it — alongside executive teams as they made the calls that defined their companies. That vantage point is what makes his work different. He isn't delivering a curriculum. He's reading the room, surfacing what's unspoken, and guiding a team through it.

He's co-authored books alongside Stephen Covey, Ken Blanchard, Deepak Chopra and Brian Tracy, and his work has been featured by CNN, CNN Money and Business Insider. But the credential that matters most isn't on a cover or a broadcast — it's the thousands of leaders who left a session changed, and stayed that way.

Today James designs and leads immersive executive leadership retreats for CEOs and their teams, and his team-building work continues through Building Teams.

"Teams don't trust him because of the names on a book cover. They trust him because he gets them to the other side."

Twenty-five years, distilled into one framework.

Out of thousands of hours inside executive teams, James found the same truth surfacing again and again: the teams that execute aren't smarter or harder-working — they hold a small set of disciplines the others have quietly lost. He named them, and built a way to find and rebuild them. That's the Flag Model: a flag held upright by four cables, governed by one principle — truth over comfort.

A note on the name

From Repario to Be Legendary.

The firm was founded in 2003 as Repario — Latin, roughly to rediscover, to find again. It's still the company's legal name, and still the truest description of the work: every executive team already has the disciplines it needs; the job is to find the ones it has lost. That idea became the Lost Disciplines.

Since 2010 it has operated as Be Legendary — less a description of the work, more a calling for the people who do it. Two decades on, the conviction hasn't moved: finding what's lost isn't the destination. It's how an executive team becomes the kind other companies tell stories about.
